As many regions in China are hit by high temperatures this summer, CR leveraged its industrial advantages to improve dispatch and command and optimize transportation structure, so as to achieve smooth transportation of power coal. CR goes all out to guarantee the supply for summer peak and meet the electricity demand of enterprises’ production and residents' consumption. In June, the state railway has an average loading of 84,000 cars of coal per day, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%, and an average loading of 59,000 cars of electric coal per day, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%.

Power coal’s transport demand grows as temperatures rise. CR corporations act in the role of the two-level coal supply guarantee office, strengthen cooperation and communication with local governments and upstream and downstream enterprises, monitor power plant information including inventory, daily consumption, transportation demand, etc., and actively coordinate with enterprises for balanced procurement and management of stockpiling to ensure sufficient coal inventory. In the first six months of this year, the 371 power plants directly supplied by the railway had 86.84 million tons of coal inventory, an increase of 6.08 million tons or 7.5% year-on-year, available for over 39 days of consumption, which supports power generation enterprises to meet summer peak demand.

To deal with the rainy weather now common in the southern region, the railway department activates the contingency plan for extreme weather and arranges further equipment maintenance and repair for relevant departments of track maintenance, electricity, and power supply to secure safe transportation of power coal. Considering that coal is prone to harden on rainy days, leading to difficulties in unloading, the department sends employees to power plants for joint implementation of measures such as exerting more manpower and machinery for cleaning to unload the power coal piled in cars with higher efficiency.
