In recent years, under the "Belt and Road" Initiative (BRI), China and Serbia have actively engaged in pragmatic cooperation, yielding significant achievements. The deepening of this bilateral cooperation relies on the steady advancement of individual projects. Within these joint infrastructure projects, there is a group of inspiring young Chinese professionals who have rooted themselves in Serbia. They treat the project sites as their home, working with gravel, cement, steel and asphalt, leaving their mark in Serbia while contributing to the friendship and collaboration between China and Serbia. Recently, journalists visited several infrastructure project sites involving China-Serbia cooperation, uncovering the daily efforts and lives of these young Chinese workers.

Despite differences in work methods, thinking patterns and customs between the Chinese and Serbian teams, Mei Yongjie, through unrelenting efforts alongside his Chinese colleagues, successfully trained a group of capable and experienced Serbian engineers. This greatly advanced the "localized management" of the projects. Mei believes that better to teach someone to fish than to give him a fish. Training local Serbian engineers is the key to genuinely enhancing their technical skills and promoting long-term economic development. Achieving this allows Chinese enterprises to establish deeper roots overseas and continue to grow.
